As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts often lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag. The Surgery

WHO IS A CANDIDATE?Liposuction is an excellent procedure for reducing and reshaping the fat of the body. It can be done at almost any age. The best results are in people with good skin tone, so that the skin will shrink down to the reduced size of the underlying tissues. Loose, sagging skin will remain so after liposuction, so people with this problem may instead require a surgical lift.
Liposuction is a good treatment for diet-resistant fat, but it is not really suitable as a substitute for weight loss. By State law, liposuction of more than 5 kilograms (about 11 pounds) of material (combined fat plus body fluids plus injected fluids) requires that a patient stay overnight in a hospital. To avoid this expense and the higher risks associated with such "large-volume liposuction," Dr. Cedars will not remove more than this amount, which translates into at most 8-9 pounds of fat. Practically, diet and exercise are a better route to weight loss for most people, saving liposuction to achieve body shaping or sculpting.
WHAT RESULTS CAN BE EXPECTED?
The treated areas will be thinner, typically flatter, and more shapely. Large bumps will be removed or reduced. While there is an immediate shape change after surgery, some swelling is normal. Most goes away over a month, but the final shape may not appear until perhaps 6 months.
It is a common misconception that if you remove, say, 5 pounds of fat with liposuction and then gain 5 pounds, you will end up the shape you started. In fact, the new weight will instead be distributed all over the body. It is possible to defeat the operation, however—if you gain large amounts of weight, some of it will go to the the treated areas—so we recommend exercise and an appropriate diet to be healthy and fit at any weight.
AFTERCARE
Pain typically requires mild narcotic pills for several days. Depending on the size of the area treated, most people are back at work within a week. To help shape and smooth the treated areas, the compression garment is worn for a month.

The Procedure

About the Implants

Recovery

Risks

Women and men who have loose abdominal skin and fat that is concentrated in the abdomen can benefit from abdominoplasty. Sometimes these conditions are inherited. In other instances, substantial weight loss may cause abdominal skin to become flaccid. Abdominoplasty also can tighten muscles that have been separated and weakened by pregnancy. The procedure may somewhat improve the appearance of stretch marks, especially those located below the navel.Am I a good candidate for abdominoplasty?
You may be a good candidate for abdominoplasty if you have one or more of the following conditions:
* excess or sagging abdominal skin
* an abdomen that protrudes and is out of proportion to the rest of your body
* abdominal muscles that have been separated and weakened
* excess fatty tissue that is concentrated in your abdomen
If you plan to become pregnant or lose weight in the future, you should discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Scarring from previous abdominal surgery may limit the results of your abdominoplasty.
Where are the incisions placed?
Generally, a horizontal incision is placed just within or above the pubic area. The length of the incision, which extends laterally toward the pelvic bones, depends largely on the amount of skin to be removed. The contour of this incision will vary somewhat according to the structure of your abdomen and the style of bathing suit or undergarments that you prefer. Your plastic surgeon will try to keep the incision within your bathing suit lines, but this may not always be possible.
Some patients have loose skin above the navel. In such cases, the surgeon may make a second incision around the navel so that the redundant skin above it can be pulled down. The excess abdominal skin is then removed. The position of the navel remains unchanged.
Skin of the lower abdomen that contains stretch marks may be removed as well. Any remaining stretch marks may be somewhat flattened and improved, but you should not expect a dramatic change in their appearance.
The procedure may include tightening of the underlying abdominal muscles using sutures.
When can I resume my normal activities?
It is important to realize that the amount of time it takes for recovery varies greatly among individuals. Depending on the extent of your abdominoplasty and your general physical condition, you may be able to return to non-strenuous work anywhere from one to three weeks after surgery. In many instances, you can resume most of your normal activities, including some form of mild exercise, after a few weeks. You may continue to experience some mild, periodic discomfort and swelling during this time, but such feelings are normal. Severe pain should be reported to your doctor.
Any sexual activity should be avoided for a minimum of two weeks, and your plastic surgeon may advise you to wait longer.

Nose surgery (Rhinoplasty) is a procedure to reshape the nose in order to create a more pleasing look and, in some instances, to correct severe breathing problems. With approximately 400,000 operations performed each year, rhinoplasty is considered the most popular cosmetic procedure in the United States. Rhinoplasty usually involves reducing the size of the nose by removing and sculpting the nasal tissues in order to enhance the facial appearance. The results are unique to each individual, and depend upon such factors as skin condition and thickness, nasal and facial structure, genetic contributions, and age. Traditionally, a “nose job” was performed only to correct major problems. However, recent surgical innovations allow for individuals to benefit from more moderate improvements from the procedure as well. In general, having nose surgery provides the patient with a better facial balance and overall appearance.Reasons for Considering Nose Surgery:
* Bring a better proportion to the nose and facial features.
* Reduce the size of the nose that is too large or too wide.
* Correct an overly arched or “Roman” nose.
* Re-form a crooked or elongated nose tip.
* Restore the nose if damaged from an accident or sports injury.
* Help with breathing problems by rebuilding the nasal passage.
* Treat nasal deformities caused at birth.

General Procedure
The rhinoplasty procedure lasts from one to three hours. The surgeon may elect to utilize either local or general anesthesia, depending upon the complexity of the operation.
To begin the surgery, tiny incisions are made which allow the surgeon to access the underlying nasal structure. Once the skin is opened, the cartilage and bone are reshaped to form the basis for the new look. Two basic methods are utilized for performing nose surgery. These methods are referred to as the ‘open’ and the ‘closed’ techniques. The open technique allows for maximum visibility and control over the procedure. The incision used in the open technique is placed in-between the nostrils on the columella (the medial nostril strip). In the closed technique, the incisions are internal and heal faster; however, there is less surgical control over the outcome. The physician can discuss which technique is best when the patient arrives for the initial consultation visit.
Recovery Process
Generally, post-operative instructions call for plenty of rest and limited movement in order to speed up the healing process and to reduce the recovery time. Some swelling may be noticed; however, any swelling will disappear within a few weeks. A splint, bandages, and/or gauze are applied immediately following surgery to aid in the healing process and to minimize movement of the nose. Patients must refrain from smoking for several weeks before and after the surgery. In addition, any corrective glasses that are worn must be taped up and off the nose. The nose will need to be well-protected from the sun for the first year after the procedure while the body is adjusting to the new look. Patients sometimes report minor pain associated with the surgery. Pain can be effectively treated with oral medication and/or cold compresses. While complications are rare, patients can minimize the risk of potential problems by carefully following the post-surgical directions given by the surgeon.

BackgroundOver time, your skin's elastic collagen degrades leading to wrinkles and excess skin laxity. Along with this change in the quality of your skin, gravity pulls your forehead and facial skin downward leading to an aging face with low set eyebrows. Some men or women have naturally low set eyebrows which they have inherited from their parents. The “correct” position of the eyebrows varies between men and women. In women the eyebrow should have the shape of an asymmetric arc, with its peak 1 cm (3/8 inch) above the superior bony ridge of the eye socket. The eyebrow in an aesthetic male should be a similar arc with its maximal peak at the bony ridge of the eye socket. It is very important to maintain these differences between the female and male eyebrows when performing a browlift in order to not feminize men.
The descended eyebrows of the aging face have several effects. They crowd the upper eyelid and give the appearance of a "busy" and tired face. A browlift can return the eyebrows to their correct position and thereby opens the face producing a fresh and well rested appearance. To compensate for the pressure and crowding effects of the descended eyebrow, the upper eyelid signals your brain to raise the eyebrow by contracting the frontalis muscle at the forehead. For this reason, all patients with low set eyebrows have lines across the forehead corresponding to the constant effort by the frontalis muscle to correct the position of the brows. In such cases, your face becomes fatigued over the course of the day, as it constantly attempts to lift the eyebrows making mild headaches very common in late afternoons. A browlift returns the eyebrows to their correct position, opening up your eyes and face, and alleviating the constant need to contract the frontalis muscle. If desired, the frowning muscles can be weakened with this procedure correcting frown lines, making BOTOX injection into the forehead no longer necessary.
Dr. Sayah performs most of his browlifts endoscopically through small hidden incisions in the hair-bearing scalp. An entire facelift can in fact be performed through these same incisions if desired. Numerous advantages distinguish this modern technique for browlift from older ones. Standard browlifts are associated with long scars at the hair line or across the top of the head from one ear to the other. Hair loss and numbness of the scalp making you unable to feel a brush going through your hair are common complications of standard browlifts. The endoscopic technique preserves the nerves and blood vessels at your scalp, preventing numbness and hair loss. Other advantages of this new technique include faster recovery, and minimal "down time."
Procedure
Small hidden incisions are made at the hair-bearing scalp. The endoscope (camera) is then introduced under your skin. Using special endoscopic instruments, Dr. Sayah performs the procedure in layers. The deepest portion of the scalp is released. The next most superficial layer of your forehead scalp is then incised to provide greater upward mobility to your eyebrows.
